What is your job? and What is your occupation? What is the difference? Do they mean the same? Thanks in advance!

They're often interchangeable but don't quite mean the same thing. Say you are a registered nurse and you have worked for a certain amount of time in three different hospitals during your professional career. You could say that your occupation is registered nurse and that you have had three jobs so far.

They can mean the same thing or they could be different depending on the individual circumstances. For example, if I am normally employed as a carpenter then that would be my occupation. If I am currently working as a carpenter then that is the type of job I have. However, if I lose my job as a carpenter and I get a job as a taxi driver until I can find another job as a carpenter then my job is driving a taxi but my occupation is still carpentry.
