정신없다 is a shortened form of 정신이 없다 "have no mind". 1.(사람이)무엇에 놀라거나 경황이 없어 앞뒤를 생각하거나 사리를 분별할 여유가 없다.(have no leisure to think reasonably) 2.(사람이)몹시 바쁘다 (Very busy) e.g. 오늘 진짜 정신없네요. 난 정말 일이 안 끝나는 줄 알았어요. This has been a bad day. I thought quitting time would never come. 그들은 토요일의 정신없는 바쁜 일정 때문에 준비하느라 바쁘다. They are busy preparing for a hectic day's activity on Saturday. 하루 동안의 정신없는 거래 동안 800만 달러어치의 주식이 매매되었다. Shares worth $8 million changed hands during a day of hectic trading. 저녁 늦게까지 정신없어요. I've got my hands full till late in the evening. Also, two patterns are commonly used. - 정신없이 + verb 난 정신없이 바빴어. I've been busy as a bee! 그는 아침까지 정신 없이 잤다 He slept like a log[soundly] until morning. 제가 무대를 정신없이 휘젓고 다닌 걸 알고 있습니다. I know I've jumped all over the place. - verb + 느라 정신없다 아직은 학기 초여서 대학생활에 적응하느라 정신없다. Since it's still the start of semester we're pretty busy 그녀는 분명 쇼핑하느라 정신없을 거야. She probably got engrossed in shopping.

정신없다 means you're beside yourself from a shock, or extremely busy with too many things to take care of. You could also use it to describe doing something briskly without paying attention to one's surroundings, as in 정신없이 일하다/먹다/자다/달리다, etc. Here are some sentence examples. - 엄마는 동생이 다쳤다는 소식을 듣고 정신없이 달려가셨다. => Mother ran off like crazy at the news of my brother's injury. - 이번 주는 분기말이라서 회사일로 정신이 없어. => I'm swamped at work as this is a quarter-end week. - 학기말 시험으로 정신없다 보니 일주일이 어떻게 지나갔는지 모르겠어요. => I don't know how the week went by as I've been so wrapped up in my final exam.
