"I like this place" = I have made a decision: I like this place
"I am liking this place already" = I have not yet made a decision, but, so far, I like it.
Note that "I am liking ..." is rarely used without "already" or "so far."
Also common: If you recently got a new job, I might ask, "How are you liking your job?" If you had been in the same job for 20 years, I would not ask that. I would ask, "How do you like your job?" (But that can be used for a new job, too. "Are you liking" is used re: something new.
