In my personal point of view, your sentence is simply perfect (except that you should have capitalized the first alphabet in a sentence, plus a full-stop at the end). In fact, if you want to express the meaning that your mother brought you to the airport ** by car (or automobile) **, this is possibly the best expression.
"My mother took me to the airport." is generally fine, but then there is no indication that it was done by which media of transportation -- it could be by some public transportations, or it could be even that your mother brought you by a luxury private boat, to an airport which is along the sea coast. :)
Hence, you do not need to worry about the sentence. It was well written.
