My recent five years have been filled with experiences in language education. Majoring in English Education, I’ve got chances to teach English to Korean students and vice versa. Also, as a student I’ve studied English and Mandarin.
These interests in languages let me explore diverse cultures as well, which made me stay in Canada for eight months as an exchange student. I met some Canadian, Chinese and Japanese friends there and could broaden my horizons.
With the global interests, I’ve been to Japan, Mongolia, Australia, Canada, US, England, Poland, Austria, Czech, Singapore and of course, Korea. Now I find myself to be one who loves to meet people from all around the worldChe tipo di insegnante sono
I’ve had a lot of experiences teaching English(EFL) and Korean Literature. Also, I volunteered as a Teaching Assistant in Korean 101 and 102 courses in the university while in Canada. I’d like to especially talk about TOEIC tutoring and Korean TA experiences here.
I taught an adult learner how to get a high score on TOEIC. We set our own curriculum using some textbooks, which was strategic and systematic. On the other hand, when I was a TA in Korean courses I helped the students with the authentic language use with the contextualized materials. Through these experiences, I got to know adjusting the whole learning process to the learners’ demands is definitely needed and learn how to do it.Le mie lezioni e il mio metodo di insegnamento
I think both deliberate and incidental learning are important. That is why I would teach Korean mainly in Korean.
If you are in the beginning stage, I would recommend to take lessons using a textbook. I will offer you the materials and we could have lessons based on them, which are organized and focused on each of four skills; listening, speaking, reading and writing. If you already have your own textbook, we can use that as well.
If you are at the intermediate or advanced level, we can use a textbook if you want. Also, we could have sessions to talk in Korean and I will make notes of new expressions in the forms of messages every session. There would always be prepared topics.Il mio materiale didattico

I’ve been studying with 지현 for ~3 years and she really helped me achieve my dream of learning Korean. These days I can talk to my colleagues and watch Korean media and even if I don’t understand 100% or I phrase things awkwardly, I can understand many things and I can make myself understood.
지현 guided me with so many explanations and conversations and book recommendations, and whenever I had a problem like when my school’s cds stopped working, she always helped me find a solution, like checking the publishers website and finding the link I needed. To say she always went above and beyond is an understatement.
Thanks to 지현 I was able to make many fun and happy memories in Korea. If she is able to have more time in the future I will be sure to take more lessons with her! And if you’re reading this and you can sign up for her classes you should do it! She is really the best!!!

As always, I had a lot of fun in teacher Jihyun's class. We had a thorough vocab review, discussed some interesting topics and analyzed lyrics to a song. And teacher is always patient and encouraging when I try to build sentences and find the right words. Thank you! :)

Lessons are extremely fun. Not only do we follow the syllabus in my textbook but we also have many opportunities to practice all grammar and vocab in everyday conversations!
