Hi everyone! I’m Yuka, born and raised in Japan and now living in the United States. People often describe me as patient and cheerful, qualities I cherish in my teaching. I’ve practiced Kendo (Japanese martial arts) for 15 years, starting when I was just 3 years old, and that experience has really shaped my personality and approach to teaching. In my free time, I also love cooking and often try new cuisines. Living in the U.S. encourages me to experiment with new recipes, which is so much fun and helps me get to know different cultures through cooking. Since 2019, I’ve been teaching Japanese both online and in-person, covering everything from everyday conversations to business discussions. My background in HR also allows me to help with formal business communication. I understand how challenging it can be to learn a new language—I’ve experienced it myself with English. That’s why I’m dedicated to supporting and motivating you every step of the way.

In my lessons, we mainly use the grammar patterns from "Minna no Nihongo" and focus on lots of conversation practice. With the help of original supplementary materials, you will see your conversational skills improve rapidly. I also offer lessons tailored to your goals, whether it's improving conversational skills, learning business Japanese, or preparing for interviews. Yuka is an amazing teacher, explains and breaks down things in a way that makes sense, and is very patient. I highly recommend her class for anyone wanting to study Nihongo!

I came to this first lesson feeling nervous and not knowing what to expect, and Yuka-san exceeded all my expectations. She is very patient and kind, and I'm confident her lessons will help me improve my Japanese quickly and enjoyably :)

Yuka Sensei is a wonderful instructor! She is attentive, kind, and patient. She is very responsive and communicative on Italki. Her classes are well structured, and I look forward to taking more lessons together.

Yuka is a great teacher. Her lessons are well structured and she is very patient and easy to understand in both English and Japanese. She can quickly adapt a lesson if I already learned some of it before hand, and does a good job reviewing previous lessons and tying them into the next.

Yuka san is a very good and patient teacher. She makes sure that her students are keeping up with the lessons and also takes time to review previous ones which helps a lot. I really enjoy learning Japanese with Yuka sensei.
