Ciao, my name is Desi Alessandrini and I teach italian as a foreign language since 1988. I was born in Trento, northern Italy and I live in Cagliari, Sardegna, since 2019*. I have a Laurea in Lingua e Cultura Italiana per Stranieri and the DILS-PG, certificate of competence in teaching italian as a foreign language from Università di Perugia. I have also studied Philosophy and Photography. I love history, art history, literature, comics, cinema, themes that are an essential part of my courses. * In April 2023 I moved to Tufillo, a small town in Abruzzo with only 338 inhabitants.Che tipo di insegnante sono
I am patient, understanding and willing to introduce you to Italy beyond stereotypes. I teach Italian as a foreign language since 1988, and here on Italki since 2019.
I work with all levels and learning purposes, like travel, studies, work and (inter)cultural growth.
Moreover, through the programs Italiano+Arte and Italiano+Storia you can learn Italian and at the same time follow a discovery journey into italian history and/or art history. Since the first lesson you will be *using* the italian language and you will get in touch with authentic material even if you never studied it before. YOU will be the protagonist! Building a cooperative relationship e develop your autonomy and your awareness of the experience of learning will be our main goals.
You will have homework assignments and feedback in a virtual classroom that you can access from any device.

I have been learning Italian with Desi on a weekly basis for over three years now. I have found her to be an incredible teacher who is professional, creative, and responsive. First, Desi provides students with a wide variety of options for scheduling lessons and has never missed a lesson. She keeps track of my progress through textbooks and provides tailored writing assignments and supplemental materials. As a professional teacher, she has lots of interesting materials that she can tailor to your interests including music, films, and articles on art and culture. Finally, Desi serves as an excellent coach who has helped me identify those areas where I need more work. She provides comments on my writing assignments and pronunciation and helps me understand context that is not always apparent in apps or textbooks. I am thankful to have found such a thoughtful and passionate teacher and would encourage anyone looking to begin or continue their language journey to study with her.
