I am definitely a "life long learner" with a genuine interest in the lives of people around me. I have attended classes in seven different universities after earning my original B.A. in Communications at The Ohio State University. I love to travel and after meeting new people its the art and architecture that I particularly enjoy.
When I am not teaching, my days are filled with music, attempts to keep my orchids blooming, doing yoga, reading, and baking cookies.

My years of experience have taught me that most teens & adults find learning a language very challenging and generally they require a great deal of practice, so it is always my mission to keep it engaging and even fun if possible. Equally important is that practice and lessons must be results-oriented and flexible. If something we are doing just isn't working for the student then we try something else. My students and I can both realize more success when we work as a team. Also, there are very few topics that do not interest me so I look forward to accommodating every student's vocabulary theme. I have completed quite a lot of training on differentiation which I believe is a key element of success with individual students. I love the challenge of developing lessons and selecting strategies that work. The types of lessons & strategies used will vary depending on the student's learning goals and learning styles. I will include any of the teaching materials listed below if they facilitate and enhance learning for the particular student. Student input is also important so I can provide the types of feedback that are most helpful and relevant. I use "best practice" strategies but even those need to be selected or set aside based on the student as a unique learner.Il mio materiale didattico

Laurea triennale - BA CommunicationsI earned my Ohio teaching license at Baldwin-Wallace College in 1991and started teaching that same year. I do not have my original OSU diploma here with me in CR. I can provide a copy of my most recent Ohio teaching license that expired July 2018. I do have copies of transcripts from most of the universities where I have studied. I highly appreciate how my business English is continuously improving after Elen`s lessons. She focuses not only on the theory that is provided by books. But pays more attention to context and how I can use knowledge in my real life. Because of that, my vocabulary expanded. And I feel much more confident in business conversations. Moreover, Elen has great knowledge of the business and tech landscape. This means we do not spend time to get a shared understanding of how business flow works and improve speaking instead

I cannot recommend Ellen highly enough! My mom is a senior learner and learns at a slower pace, but Ellen is incredibly patient and kind. She tailors her lessons to my mom's needs and keeps things engaging and fun. My mom is so happy and feels her English skills are really improving. Thank you Ellen! I do admire your patience!
