Hello! I’m glad you found your way to my page. I have 27 years’ experience in professional book development, 16 years’ experience teaching writing, and 4 years’ experience teaching English to speakers of other languages. I’m a published author of fiction and nonfiction. I love working one-on-one with students of all ages. As a native of Maryland, my accent is neutral mid-Atlantic American. Outside of iTalki, I teach anthropology, sociology, and creative writing. I speak B1 Spanish, A2 Icelandic and French, and I'm now learning to speak Polish. We learn best when we're relaxed and having fun. My teaching style is calm, gentle, and informal. The most frequent compliment I get is on my enthusiasm. I like to laugh and have fun during lessons, but most of all, I love to learn. I will learn as much from you as you will learn from me! Students have said of me that I have a loving personality. A mentor of mine said that, although technique is vital, teaching comes down to love of the student and love of the subject. I tailor my lessons to your needs and wishes. Together, we'll use your strengths and preferred learning style to help you learn quickly and comfortably.
CONVERSATIONAL ENGLISH: Exercises if you want them; 100% conversation if you don't. Exercises are a mix of grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, reading, writing, listening. I often assign TED talks; they're great conversation topics! If you don't want exercises or assignments, that's fine too! We can just talk about whatever interests you.

Teacher Julie is a great teacher. She has a passion for English teaching. If you want to speak better, she is fun to talk with and has a wide range of knowledge. If you want to improve your writing skill, she is a writer and teacher of creative writing. What more can I say?
