Hey there! My name is Abubacar I'm originally from Mali, West Africa but I was born and raised in South Africa. I think the future of work is online and teaching English is a step in the right direction for me. I'm very determined and I love challenges.

I'm tolerant, patient and understanding and I think these qualities are needed to teach things to others. I also love interacting with other people and having good conversations. This is why I think teaching is good for me because I get to talk to people while they get to learn.

English TeacherFor five months (April-July), I worked part-time as an English tutor at American Life in Samsun, Türkiye. Though I’d helped friends before, this was my first formal tutoring job. I taught several 1-hour group conversation classes each week, which helped me gain confidence in speaking to groups and teaching new concepts. I enjoy helping others, and teaching English gives me that rewarding feeling of making a difference.

English TutorI started teaching on Italki as soon as I completed my 120-hour TEFL certificate. I saw it as a way to enter the online market and I soon realized that I enjoyed the one-on-one lessons. I’ve been able to help others improve their communication skills as well as my own. This experience has helped me learn more about myself, and what I want from life and it motivates me to improve.

Laurea triennale - International Trade and LogisticsI moved to Türkiye in 2018 and spent a year learning Turkish before starting university. Studying in a different language was challenging and often demotivating—I even considered quitting. However, I’m glad I persevered. During university, I developed an interest in international trade, especially after taking International Business and Marketing during my third and fourth year. I want to be an expert in this field.

I highly recommend Abu to both beginners and advanced students. He's great to talk to about anything, from AI and startups to social life and everyday topics. If you're shy, Abu will help you start the conversation, and if you're already comfortable, he's a great conversation partner. Don't hesitate to give it a try!

I feel more confident using English after learning with him. He is very calm and patient with me. Besides the English lessons he prepared, Abu often talks to me about my carees or topics I'm interested in, helping me expand my vocabulary for daily life.
