My name is Ken and I'm Chinese. I'm eager to help you improve your Chinese and understanding of Chinese culture, via Italki.
I have a degree in Chinese language and literature. I have a keen interest in classical Chinese culture, especially pre-Qin culture. I also like Tang poetry, Song Ci, Yuan Qu and novels from the Ming and Qing dynasties very much. If you like Chinese culture as much as I do, I'm sure we'll find many topics of common interest to have a conversation about. Chinese is a very attractive language, it has a good rhythm, beautiful handwriting, what's more, there is a story behind every Chinese character. The evolution of Chinese characters is the history of China. Therefore, if you want to learn Chinese fully, you must understand The history and culture of China.

Thank you Ken, it’s always a great pleasure to talk with you. The time flies past in the lessons. I am remembering more vocabulary and my confidence in listening and speaking has improved a lot.
I highly recommend Ken as an excellent and encouraging teacher. He speaks slowly and clearly and motivates you to talk about interesting topics and share ideas. I have learned so much about Chinese history and culture.

Ken is an excellent tutor, I highly recommend him. He is always on time, patient and good humoured. His Chinese accent is also very standard and clear. It's rare to find such a good male teacher. 5 stars!

I really enjoy lessons with 史堃. As an advanced learner, we use history and literature as our focus. This means our lessons give me the opportunity to practice speaking, explore culture and to learn interesting things all at the same time.
I also send him any words or poetry I come across during my own study that I want to discuss, review or have explained in our class.
He is always on time, patient, friendly, professional, and in good humour.
