I help my students avoid directly translating things, as this often results in creating unnatural expressions (E.g When we hang out and friends look a bit bored, we don't say "Are you bored? We say "Do you wanna do something different? （何か違うことする？）in Japanese). Also, I break down common formal Japanese expressions and explain how you can make casual phrases with them. So that you can see the difference and pick proper expressions when you speak or write!
