Use "was" I was happy to receive your call. ...or even better.... It was nice hearing from you. It was a pleasure hearing from you. "Hearing from you" is a much better expression.

You could also say: I enjoyed talking to you. I had fun talking to you. I've enjoyed conversing with you. :)

when I finished answering the phone,in order to express my appreciate, what should I say? "I am glad to receive your call"or "It's my pleasure to answer your call"?which verb is correct?any other expression? WHEN I FINISH SPEAKING (not answering) or WHEN I HAVE FINISHED SPEAKING WITH SOMEONE ON THE PHONE, IN ORDER TO EXPRESS MY APPRECIATION (noun), what should I say? ["appreciate" is the verb] We use the word "answer" only to mean "accepting the phone call" and that is when we say "hello". After answering the call we then have a conversation or speak on the phone. First, I would say "Thank you for your call." Then I would say what Eliot and Seraphicstar have already suggested: I was happy to receive your call, or It was nice hearing from you, or It was a pleasure hearing from you, or It was nice talking to you, or I appreciate your call.

a lot of the answers given are what you say at the END of a call: "it was nice talking to you". if you answer the call, in the beginning, you can say "it's nice to hear from you." at the end, before saying goodbye, you would instead say "it was nice to hear from you"
