to talk freely without thinking of stopping

chat away mean exactly the same as just chat

hm..I've also seen this phrase and sometimes I use it but I have not noticed a big difference between chat away/chat and talk I suppose in spanish it will sound like charlar...I often say that phrase:"I chat away for hours with my mum and the main topic of our conversation is the kitchen... But honestly, fist time I thought it means something like "get away from me, or something like make an excuse" but I was wrong...
