I am a professional general and business English teacher and have been teaching for 23 years, in-class and online. I also teach my native language, Hungarian. I was born in Budapest, the capital of Hungary, but now I live in the countryside. My other work experiences and qualifications include accountancy, finance, translation and journalism. Besides teaching I enjoy hiking, gardening, landscape photography, yarn art, and books. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you cannot find an appropriate time slot in my calendar, please message me advising some dates which would be suitable for you and I'll try to do my best to accept one of them and send a lesson invitation directly to you.

教学经验

Adult education is my preference and expertise, but I regularly help secondary school students with their studies. I teach English mostly for Hungarians and Hungarian mostly for those who speak English. I prepare my students for language tests, job interviews and the Hungarian citizenship exam. This is what I can offer for the learners of Hungarian: 1) Free conversation/Spotlight on Hungary (or your interests), 2) Citizenship Exam / Interview Preparation 3) ECL Test Preparation 4) Hungarian Course A1-C1 (with MagyarOK coursebooks) 5) Grammar-based lessons 6) Literature and Stylistics. I have both traditional (coursebooks / grammar-based) and casual (prompts, interests or slide-based) lessons. As well as mixed ones. Everything depends on the student's personality, preferred learning methods and their goals. Therefore regular feedback is the basis of my teaching. I prefer using real language materials combined with leveled exercises. In more structured Hungarian Course A1-C1 lessons I also use MagyarOK coursebooks and Practical Hungarian Grammar.

I've been working with Ildikó for over 2 years to learn Hungarian for my simplified naturalization interview, which I just passed successfully the day I'm writing this. She's an excellent, very thorough, very encouraging teacher who's instilled in me just as much love for the Hungarian language and Hungarian culture as I can tell she has herself. She's been very understanding and accommodating to help me learn at my own pace, but she's never gone easy on me, always pushing me to speak and understand Hungarian on a deeper level. She's fantastic at tailoring lessons and conversations to who I am; don't be surprised on your first lesson if she's Googled you and already has a lesson plan about your most obscure interests! That is how much Ildikó truly cares about her students. If you're in for the long haul of learning this language, Ildikó is a fantastic teacher to take you on this journey, and will feel like family by the end of it.
