My name is Brian Spivey. I love to travel. I have been to many countries such as, Senegal, Dominican Republic, Zambia, Mexico, South Africa and Antigua. I did martial arts for 8 years and obtained a 3rd Degree Black belt in Tae Kwon Do. I have 6 children and 2 foster children. I love to run. I completed two-half marathons. (I will be on holiday from Tuesday, Feb 21-Sat Feb 25).教学经验
I started teaching in 1993. I was a substitute teacher for more than 2 years with the NYC Public School System. I taught a year in a suburban school in Colonie, NY. The last 19 years I've taught in Schenectady. I have taught all grades from Kindergarten to Adult Education. I have online experience. I taught one year online (COVID related) and I have tutored for three years online. We also homeschooled our children for 23 years so I utilize different approaches to education. I have been teaching for over 26 years. As a teacher I have developed lesson plans to help 7th and 8th grade students excel. I was an homeschooling dad, so I used a classical approach to education with my own children. Online teaching is different than traditional classroom teaching. When I teach online, I take a little extra time to build trust between the student and me. I use visuals and sometimes google slides. NYS Public School Teacher Certification - University of the State of New York Education Dept - 2001In order to acquire this certification, a person needs to have a Bachelors Degree. If they don't have a Bachelors Degree in Education, then they must have at least 18 credits in Education. They must student teach for a year, or have one year of substitute teaching. They must pass three teacher certification tests.
