Hello students! Nice to meet you. My name is Cecily. I am a native English speaker living in the San Francisco Bay Area (United States). I have many interests, including reading, writing, going to concerts, and walking in the parks. I also enjoy lifelong learning -- whether that be through reading, watching videos, or taking courses. I love to learn along with my students. During the day, I work at a local elementary school teaching writing and other other skills.教学经验
I've been teaching English as a Foreign Language for 8 years, including two years in China. I have two certificates in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). Prior to teaching English, I had many years' experience teaching music (my degree was in Music History). In China, I taught a year-long original course in American Culture. I have also studied clinical phonetics (relevant to pronunciation). I currently work in a public school as an instructional assistant, teaching children with a specific learning disability.我提供的课程和我的教学风格
My lessons are casual and fun. My teaching style is patient, supportive, thoughtful and enthusiastic. I am conscientious, and prepare lessons tailored to the student's needs. I do not usually use textbooks, but use carefully created and selected materials, including real news articles and videos (for more advanced students).
If you are a new student to me, please try to book at least 24 hours in advance so I have time to communicate with you and prepare a new lesson for you before the lesson. Thank you.

Cecily did a thorough evaluation of my foreign speaking pattern/style on our first lesson. She didn't waste any time and started targeting the problematic sounds I have with pronunciation. Then she'll help me with the other areas customizing our lessons with the goal of trying to achieve to speak more natural.
She is friendly, easy going, and patient. So happy to have found Cecily!
