Jane kids&adults

Due to the unexpected school closures with Covid-19, my children have been learning Chinese with Jane everyday. I can see their improvement and progression. They have been engaged and happy learning with Jane.

Jane is a great teacher, I tried to study Chinese on my own for a while but with my busy life it was hard to do. Jane helps me stay focused and learn far more than I would have on my own.

Jane always makes learning fun! She does an amazing job of balancing book material and answering questions that may come up during our lessons. She gives homework after lessons, so that you are practicing throughout your week as well. I’ve learned so much in grammar and the context behind the language and culture. She does a good job with pacing as well. She can pick up on when I need extra practice with a pronunciation or word, or if I know a concept well enough to speed through it. It’s always a plus that our personalities go well together and it’s always a great time during lessons! I’d highly recommend her as a teacher for those curious about the language and intimidated by the language.

Jane is an exceptionally good teacher. Today I had my 9th lesson with her. I tried a number of other professional teachers here on italki, too. These are my thoughts about Jane: professional: - no interruptions (phone calls, doorbell, noise) - uses proper laptop (instead of mobile phone) and good headphones - has good internet connection - has all the resources at hand good teacher: - keeps track of past lessons (so she can easily refer new introduced grammar from earlier lessons) - knows how to adapt to student's very special requirements (for example, she understands that I need her to help me to make flashcards with "weird" word-for-word translations - she's not only able to cope with my requirement easily, she even likes the challenge of it!) - and what I like most: the lessons with Jane are fun and very efficient (we get a lot of stuff done in a short time) I don't write such a review light-heartedly, but I can highly recommend Jane to everybody.

Today we started HSK 4 lesson 7 dialogue 4. Covering the first half of the vocabulary. By utilizing reading materials our class included some great ideas for conversations and guidance with the newly learned words. I always enjoy class with Jane!

Jane never disappoints in her classes. When we first started, I could barely remember three words in a row. Looking back at my progress now, I honestly don’t think I would be even half as capable as I am without her guidance. She is always on time, well prepared, and clearly invested in her students’ success. What I appreciate most about Jane’s teaching style is that she doesn’t let me fail. We keep working through material until I truly understand it. I struggle a lot with tones, and she has been extremely patient, encouraging, and effective at helping me improve. Her lessons are structured, supportive, and challenging in the best way. I would highly recommend Jane to anyone serious about learning Mandarin.
