Hi! My name is Julieta and I am from Azores, the Portuguese islands in the middle of the Atlantic. I studied Fine Arts in Portugal, Czech Republic and Denmark, mostly drawing, printmaking and photography.
I have always been fascinated with learning languages and how they become a tool to open up a new world for you. In the years abroad, I used English daily and learnt more with everyone I met. When I was a child I have learnt French with my cousins and I have learnt Spanish with friends.
I love to travel, seeing new perspectives through my camera and meeting new people, listening to their different stories while I draw them.

Besides my Fine Arts degree, I am a qualified English teacher by The TEFL Academy (TQUK Level 5 Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language). As your English teacher or Portuguese tutor, I can help you with conversation/listening practice, pronunciation and grammar (fluency and/or accuracy, depending on your goals).
I will use all my knowledge and different teaching techniques to help you in our lessons, as well as my own experience as a language learner. Everyone has a different motivation to learn a language. I would like to know what is yours and focus our lessons on it. Basically I will adapt my skills to your needs and to your personality.我提供的课程和我的教学风格
My lessons will be very casual and we can talk about whatever interests you. If you want to, I can also provide you with material to practise some specific subjects. I am very strong in grammar, but we only need to go deep into it if you want or need to. If your language level is still very basic and you speak any English, Portuguese, French or Spanish, we can use it as an advantage in our lessons. Although I believe the best way to be fluent in any language is to be immersed in it.
IMPORTANT: Teachers/tutors in Italki are allowed to take a 5 minutes break between every class. (60 min class = 55 min; 30 min class = 25 min)我的教学资料

In the past 4 months, I’ve had 101 lessons with Julieta and I believe I can now say without a doubt that she is one of the very best teachers on italki. Julieta is not only knowledgeable about all quirks of her mother tongue, she knows how to share her enthusiasm about language learning. Exceptional. Julieta cares about her craft. While she is gregarious and affable, it is clear that her concerns are broader and deeper than some nebulous "communication." Yes, to connect, but there are many ways of doing so and some are better than others. There is connection, for sure, but also clarity, precision, guidance, and all with a gentle but firm touch. That she types corrections, modifications, emphases and the like onto the screen is really helpful, especially because these are then available to me for review. Julieta also offers exercises, for example, asking me to describe a familiar route -- for me that would be to my yoga studio. Good test of vocabulary and much more without leaving me overwhelmed. Having been a college/university professor for 20 years, and thus with some knowledge of teaching aptitude, pedagogy, and gifts, I can say with confidence that Julieta is a teacher by design and by native gifts.

Julieta has been a great help for me in my Portuguese studies. She is a positive and happy person, the type of person who makes your day brighter. She dominates her mother tongue perfectly, she never even blinked with an eye when I asked her something in concrete (grammar related). And I did asked quite some! The internet, video and audion quality has been great too. I could not be happier! Julieta, thank you for doing such a great job!
