I was born and raised in Nagoya, Japan, and studied abroad in the U.S on soccer scholarship. I went on to earn my masters in language. For the past few years, I have been working as a remote Japanese instructor for Universities in Florida and Colorado. Tutoring students outside of class has always been the most fun and personable part of my career. I also enjoy the flexibility because I love to travel and eat foods from different countries. I believe my passion and experience will make me a great candidate for italki.教学经验
I fell in love with teaching while working on a graduate degree in International Relations. After working as an instructor through a teaching assistant position one semester, I immediately switched to “East Asian Languages and Cultures” on the Japanese track. After over 4 years of teaching, I am so thankful for that decision. Post-graduation, I continued working for universities as an instructor and dedicated all of my free time to tutoring students on the side. The work has been incredibly rewarding. Seeing my students grow in confidence and competency has always brought me personal satisfaction.我提供的课程和我的教学风格
Above all else, I believe in patience and accommodation. I check on my students and adapt my methods to find what works for each student, which is the greatest advantage in one-on-one tutoring. My teaching style is inspired by my graduate thesis, which focused on hybrid online learning. I believe fluency comes from language and culture immersion during our time together, combined with well developed practicing resources and technology for time outside of tutoring sessions. My lessons are practical; the goal is to order food at a restaurant or have a casual conversation with friends. For the more advanced, I prepared lessons for expert and business level Japanese.我的教学资料

Hikaru is so pleasant and helpful. I didn't know what to expect but Hiraku helped me along the way and by the end I felt I learned a few new things.

Hikaru sensei was very polite and kind during our lesson. I was pretty nervous about scheduling a lesson because, by nature, I’m a very introverted person, especially with Japanese since I haven’t spoken it much at all. However, she was extremely patient and kind and after just a few minutes of the lesson I hadn’t even noticed it happened, but any anxiety I’d had prior had all but disappeared! If you were planning on scheduling a lesson for yourself, I can’t recommend Hikaru sensei enough. In a short amount of time, she expertly presented her knowledge of Japanese and how to teach it, and was very polite and kind while doing so. Long story short, I enjoyed our short lesson talking to her and studying Japanese, and would wholeheartedly recommend anyone considering doing the same to do it themselves! ありがとうございますひかりせんせい！
