I greatly enjoy breaking words down and explaining how my language works: I really need to get a life.
I teach through context, exposing students to stories *very* early on, while sneakily increasing the amount of Greek spoken in class.
My students are encouraged to produce their own texts and utterances once they are able to read, and get trained to need me less and less. I like linguistic comparisons, capitalising on languages a learner speaks, and explaining Greek through familiar structures.

I like deconstructing Modern Greek patterns through a cross-linguistic prism. I exclusively use my own material, and a method shaped through comprehensible input, word formation, context, and etymology.
Content themes circumvent popular clichés and stereotypes about Greece, while the language is relevant and featured the way native speakers use it in real life. Use of exercises is minimal; instead, I encourage writing and speaking, after considerable exposure to oral and written input. Students get to look at Greek structures in different contexts, including various forms of art and entertainment.我的教学资料

Greek Language TeacherManaging small adult classes, often employing grecophone media such as songs and short films.
Organised a shift from textbooks to customised content, after noticing that textbook language did not correspond to real-life situations.
Directed the transition from on-site to online lessons during the pandemic, teaching all classes and designing every level's curriculum. Introduced conversational lessons that accommodated different levels, including complete beginners.
2014 - 2016
English TutorTutoring Greek pre-teens at A2-B1, guiding them through etymology, context and essay writing. Observing what Greek speakers struggled with when learning English, granted me a solid understanding of my native language.
In my current path as a Greek teacher, this has enabled me to mitigate two common challenges in teaching one's own mother tongue: comprehending intuitively-learnt structures, and seeing them through a non-native perspective.

What I really love about these lessons is that there is no book involved. It's a lot about me asking thousands of questions and Yorgos being ready with as many sources of good tailored material that answer my questions and help me remember words and structures. Memes are a golden addition!
His background in Italian language and Ancient Greek allow him to explain to me things from a different etymological perspective, adding so much richness to the lexicon I learn. He never judges and he positively reinforces all the progress you make, encouraging you to have conversations and make mistakes in order to grow. Bravo!
