CEFR C1 in French (certified by the University of Nancy,1989) CEFR B1 in German (certified by Goethe Institut, 1991) 37 years of teaching experience. 22.8 K lessons on Italki. 'Perfect, purposeful practice', not just naive practice, is the key to excellence. Just doing something repeatedly will not produce the results you need. Naive practice just makes good and bad habits permanent. Perfect, purposeful practice is deliberate practice, which leads to: mental representations > informed deliberate practice > improvement >refined deliberate practice >> mental representations You go on practicing in an increasingly perfect way along the process. I can lead you through this practice, with guidance and feedback at every stage of your development. I rely on theories from educational psychology, neuroscience, applied linguistics and on my own extensive experience.

I strongly believe a carefully structured pedagogical program, with clear stages and goals, makes a significant difference. My courses prepare students for academic, professional and social endeavours. I use updated textbooks, produced by Cambridge and Oxford universities, in line with the latest trends in teaching methodology and exam preparation. I offer the kind of language instruction one might expect to find in the best language schools in the world, but I do this individually, in a much more relaxing, highly supportive and customized manner. I send students a test before their first lesson to determine their level, so that I can choose the most suitable book for their course.

Proficiency Translation Certificate CEFR 2 - Cambridge University UK - 1989This was an optional, additional part of the Cambridge Proficiency exam; it awarded an additional certificate in Translation from and into English (Portuguese<>English). It involved translating C2 level texts in English and Portuguese without recourse to dictionaries. Different language pairs were offered each year. Due to an utter lack of candidates for this additional part of the Proficiency exam, the translation exam was discontinued shortly after the turn of the millennium.
