Free Flow Marija

I have had conversation lessons with Marija for nearly two years now. As I live abroad and not in my home country a person who has also lived abroad - like Marija - will understand automatically what it means if you come to a new country. The challenges of the language, the customs and traditions, basically the culture. Apart from living abroad she has travelled widely which is an additional asset because it enriches our conversations when looking at Croatia because we are able to employ that outside look. Moreover, Marija is a resident in one area of Croatia, but originally stems from another area. This is very useful because it provides surprising insights. For me as someone who has roots in Croatia, but never has lived there this is a definite bonus because you can get to know different parts of the country in one person. If you are looking for an open-minded person with whom you can talk about almost anything then Marija is the perfect choice.

Lessons with Marija are always an enrichment, academically and personally. She is definitely one of the best teachers on Italki.

Lessons with Marija are thought provoking and open to a deeper analysis of the world around us. Allowing a learning of a language and culture of a higher standard and at the same time, stimulating the senses in our otherwise mundane lives. Bravo Marija!

Time spent with Marija learning about Croatian and how different a language can be from English has been incredibly valuable and has made me feel confident exploring other completely different kinds of languages. She’ll focus on slang with you and you may end up knowing far more about Croatian culture, including pop culture, that you wouldn’t otherwise know about. I haven’t come across a teacher on italki for anything who’s as experienced and I can’t recommend her enough. 🖤

Marija is a phenomenal teacher! She actively seeks ways to make learning Croatian relatable to her students. I feel she makes a point to get to know the student’s learning style and progresses at a comfortable pace, while keeping it challenging, yet fun. She offers feedback and correction where needed and also allows us to feel comfortable making mistakes. Marija is always pleasant and kind. I thoroughly enjoy my lessons with her!
