Hi guys, how are you doing? Do you want to learn German from scratch, are you already experienced and want to improve your skills or will you start working for a company that require you to study business German? In any case you found the right person. My name is Steff and I am a professional teacher (master in education/TESOL certificate) with over 20 years of experience in teaching German as a second language. For many years I was working as a senior project manager in a marketing agency in Germany, hence my ability to teach Business German as well.

I am a very patient teacher with a good sense of humour, who is convinced, that it's a lot easier to learn a language, while having a good time :o) Before we start with the lessons, I will evaluate your current level and your goals with learning the language. I will also find out what kind of exercises and assignments you prefer, as I am aware, that every student needs a different approach. During many years of teaching German as a second language I gathered a big pool of different teaching materials and I will find the right stuff to get you on track in a fun and easy way :o)

All my lessons are student-focused which means I make sure, that you get the material and assignments you need to improve your skills and reach your goals. I understand the process of language acquisition and also the psychology of learning languages. With this knowledge, I developed efficient teaching/learning strategies to make you learn German quickly, without pressure and frustration while having fun :o) My main focus is getting you to speak German as much as possible during our lessons. Sometimes we also might have to do some grammar. Ideally you will do most of the grammar assignments as a homework – if you are fine with that?

I've been taking lessons with Steff for several months. He is patient, kind, and fun, important qualities in a teacher. He’s a careful listener and provides constructive feedback. He gives suggestions on more natural ways to express myself. I make countless mistakes, sometimes the same mistakes I’ve already made, and I can become flustered by my errors. Yet Steff remains a calm and humorous influence and I tend to end up laughing over my German language missteps. I most enjoy that Steff teaches me how to speak German like a German. We don’t use canned textbook phrases so the language sounds more natural. Before taking classes with Steff, I took a three month course at the Goethe Institute. I have learned more in less time with Steff than I did in that course. I look forward to improving my German language skills and being able to have more complex discussions. Steff is an interesting person who doubtless has great stories to tell and can speak on many topics. Vielen Dank, Steff!

My lessons with Steff have been such a joy! He strikes a great balance between free-flowing conversation and correction, while offering super useful suggestions on word choice/formulations that have helped my German become more natural and idiomatic. Teaching online is so difficult, but Steff is able to foster the type of welcoming, friendly and fun atmosphere that is ideal for language learning. Steff's lessons are highly personalized, and can be as structured or as spontaneous as you like. It has been a true pleasure working with him!!

German lessons with Steff are always fantastic! Every lesson is clearly structured, allowing for free conversation alongside the materials or plan for the day. He not only corrects mistakes, but also gives suggestions as to alternative expressions (so you don't repeat yourself), or better expressions (that sound more natural). Steff also makes all of the notes, so you can just focus on speaking! I highly recommend classes with Steff. After just a few months I feel that my German has come such a long way, and I don't feel it would have been possible without his help!
