Experience, good mood, language + art and history. (please read lessons description before booking) I am patient, understanding and willing to introduce you to Italy beyond stereotypes. I teach Italian as a foreign language since 1988, and here on Italki since 2019. I work with all levels and learning purposes, like travel, studies, work and (inter)cultural growth. Moreover, through the programs Italiano+Arte and Italiano+Storia you can learn Italian and at the same time follow a discovery journey into italian history and/or art history. Working with images, maps and videos, we can explore Italy’s fascinating events and cultural heritage while mastering the italian language.

In addition to having CAE (Cambridge Advanced English) and TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certificates, I have been teaching English and Italian online since 2017 and have gained a great deal of experience. Moreover, I have experience teaching English here in Sicily privately and from time to time I work as a translator. Oltre ad avere i certificati CAE (Cambridge Advanced English) e TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language), ho acquisito molta esperienza insegnando Inglese e Italiano online dal 2017 fino ad oggi. Inoltre, ho esperienza come insegnante privato qui in Sicilia e ogni tanto lavoro come traduttore.

I have never liked boring lessons and I like dynamism, so I would define myself a teacher who likes that students can learn having fun and with joy. At the same time, I adore grammar and I think it is very important to study and internalize it in order to speak well a foreign language. Finally, during my classes I like to speak a little bit about culture of the language we are studying and to do some language structure’s comparisons which are very interesting to understand how languages work (a little bit of linguistics help).

Some people see it as an impediment to their goal, I suggest them to see it as its own beauty. Everyone has different objectives and depending on those the method of learning a language may drastically change. Personally I have been studying languages in different ways, from the totally carefree state of mind to the strict academic methods in universities. I feel like I'm more of a friendly face correcting your errors and pushing you to practice and talk. I think a lot can be done alone with books but what makes talking to a native special is that one goes beyond the (often boring) book and is able to interact and have an exchange with the person. I studied languages in school and for a year in university. I know Italian grammar well and I love grammar in general. I translated for years and got to realise how hard it can be to use the language but also how beautiful Italian is. I do not teach children or complete beginners. I don't have the expertise and don't want to ruin the experience for them!
