課程描述

The American election system is a unique and important political system. From local races to presidential elections, the way citizens vote, and how those votes are counted, can often seem confusing—even for those familiar with the process. In this class, we will explore the key elements of the American election system, including how elections work, the role of the Electoral College, and how votes are counted. With the upcoming election, we will also explore the possible outcomes in 2024. How does the Electoral College influence the outcome of presidential elections? What is the significance of primary elections, caucuses, and swing states? How do political campaigns shape voter opinion? Together, we will answer these questions and more. We’ll also take time to compare the US system with those in other countries, giving participants a broader perspective on global electoral processes. This class provides an opportunity to reflect on how democracy functions in the US and to discuss various aspects of the election system. You’ll also get to share your experiences and knowledge of voting processes in your own countries. This class is perfect for intermediate and advanced English learners (B2-C1) who want to practice their listening and speaking skills while engaging with a globally relevant topic.
