はい、こんにちは。今回はポッドキャストの18回目です。大学のレポート課題を全て終わらせてしまったので、最近少し暇になりました。italkiの紹介動画をそろそろアップデートしたいです。今の動画を撮影したのは２年前です。レッスンに来る生徒さんの目的やゴールも少し変わっているので、レッスンの種類もアップデートしたいです。

Hello, this is episode 18 of season 2 of my podcast. I've finished all my university report assignments, so I've had a bit of free time recently, and I'd like to update my italki introduction video soon. I filmed the current video two years ago. The objectives and goals of new students have changed a bit, so I want to update the type of lessons I offer.

今日は効果的なテスト勉強についてお話しします。日本語の代表的なテストはJLPTですね。私の生徒さんの中にもJLPTを受験した人がたくさんいますが、レベルにかかわらず全員合格しています。テストを受ける時に一番大事なことは、正しいレベルを選択することです。その次に、テスト勉強の計画です。テストに申し込んだら、テストの日をカレンダーに書いて、テストまでにどれぐらい勉強時間があるか考えます。１年前から勉強を始める人もいれば、３ヶ月前に準備を始める人もいます。

Today I will talk about effective test study. The JLPT is the most well-known and widely-recognised test for the Japanese language. Many of my students have taken the JLPT, and they have all passed, regardless of their level. The most important thing when taking the test is to choose the right level. The second most important thing is to plan your test study. When you sign up for the test, you should write the test date on your calendar and think about how much time you have to study before the test; some people start studying a year in advance, while others start preparing three months in advance.

大切なのは早く始めることではなく、自分に合ったスケジュールを立てることです。たとえば平日が忙しい人は、仕事や学校の休み時間に勉強するより、週末にじっくり勉強した方が集中できるはずです。普段あまり忙しくない人は、毎日決まった時間に勉強することで正しい生活のリズムを作ることができます。「テスト勉強はテストに合格できなければ意味がない」というのは誤解です。誤解とは、人や物について間違った理解をして、正しくないイメージをもつことです。テスト勉強は、自分に合った勉強スタイルを探して試すのにとても役立ちます。さらに、テストに合格できると自信がつきます。

Which part are you worried about?

I met a student from China who came to prepare for IELTS speaking, and while reading his goal, I picked certain areas from his answer that he wasn't even aware of. 

This was the goal: (I will hide the name, just to illustrate some of my student's goals), so here were his goals:

"My goal is to break through 5.5 in IELTS speaking. I often don't know what to say when communicating, especially during exams, and the answers are a little incoherent and overly nervous."

These were the issues I identified

a) Not knowing what to say (being stuck).
b) During exam fear (most people have 'exams-fear'.
c) Doubting about the answers (whether its correct).
d) Fear, anxiety when communicating.
