Hi! You’re listening to the 111 Tips for Learning a Language Podcast. This is episode 2. Relax and be in your comfort zone as I present to you today’s tip. Why do we learn a language? We all have our reasons. What is your main reason? Simply put what motivates you to learn this language? We all know what drives us to learn a language. Rarely though we capitalize on the main reason we are learning the language. For example I am learning French because I want to spend my summer vacations here. This is the main reason which motivates me to learn French. Once I am clear about my main reason for learning French, I will concentrate on tourist vocabulary phrases to practice informal conversation with the locals. I will learn simple sentences so that I can make friends with the French and be understood by them. Aspects of the French language like the technicalities of grammar and writing would not be important for now. Once I narrow down my learning motivation, I become fluent quicker in what I really want to accomplish in the first place. The first milestone of getting one aspect of the language done is the one which always inspires me to learn more. Think about it. What is your main reason for learning a language? Is it for the perfect holiday, work, leisure, cultural or business reasons? Concentrate on one scope and expand on that area first. Now, I will leave you to it. Tip 2 - Narrow down on your motivation and capitalize on it.

There is an old theory that eating cheese before bed causes bad dreams, although scientists don't have much evidence to prove it.

But if cheese can't make us dream, new research from the US says that perhaps an app could — and they don't have to be bad dreams!

Researchers experimented with an app that they designed to encourage people to have lucid dreams. These are dreams that feel vivid and real.

During lucid dreams, people know that they're dreaming and may even be able to control what happens in the dream.

Not everyone has lucid dreams. It's thought that about half of us will have them during our lives, but some people may have them regularly.

Lucid dreams may be useful for us: experts think they could encourage creativity and problem-solving, or help us with nightmares.

The app in the study used a method called "targeted lucidity reactivation" that is supposed to make people more likely to experience lucid dreams.

This is usually done in a laboratory, but the researchers wanted to see how effective an app used at home could be.

They did two experiments to see if the app could increase the frequency of participants' lucid dreams.

The first experiment included 19 participants. Before going to sleep, they did a 20-minute activity that encouraged them to enter a "lucid mindset" when they heard certain sounds.

These same sounds were then played during the night. The frequency of the participants' lucid dreams more than doubled during the week of the experiment.

Fifty people completed the second experiment. They were put into three groups, with one group using the targeted lucidity reactivation method.

The people in this group reported that they had experienced more lucid dreams during the week of the experiment than those in the two control groups.

The researchers said these results suggest that apps like this could help people to use sleep for "personal benefits" including "spiritual and personal growth."

Being able to go to university or not has little effect on students from cities. But for students from rural areas, if they don't go to college, they will be lifelong farmers.
I think it would be good for a peasant's child to expand his horizons, understanding of the world， connections, and self-perception if he went to a proper university.
I think going to college will change your destiny. Because people's thoughts are changed by perspective. College is the best place to build a new perspective. As long as you can get into a university, even if it is just a third-class university. Four years of college life will change his new ideas and views. Then he goes back to the countryside, and he may start his own business, or he may become the most thoughtful person there. I think ideas are fundamental to changing the world.
