There are many skills that a person can acquire during a lifetime, however, the ability to speak a foreign language opens more doors than many other traits. It allows us to look for job opportunities beyond our homeland, it brings us closer to other people, and gives us even more learning opportunities.

I don't quiet 100% agree.
Learning Swedish, Danish and Norwegian does not necessarily mean mixing the languages. The sound is very different and to separate specific vocabulary is possible. Same with Spanish and Italian. The music of the languages is very different, so unless your goal is to get a native level of pronunciation it should be manageable to have progress in both. I agree, that it is a good idea to focus at a primary learning language when you try to learn languages from the same language family at the same time.

How is it even possible? Michael, the author, hasn't used the site for two years but managed to post a discussion five days ago. It seems that italki uses abandoned profiles in its own interests.

Some people are definitely extremely skilled. Managing to write an article now while being offline for two years, chapeau-bas Michael !

My problem is that I always confuse Japanese with Korean. It's hard for my brain to separate them but I will try my best !

Thanks for the article :)

Just for curiosity, which are the two languages that you have learnt at the same time? And how would you describe the particular challenge of that particular language pair?
