Hi everybody!
I've been learning German for a while (almost a year and a half) and I'd like to buy the Assimil Series for advanced learners (in German!). The course claims that you'll reach a C1 level at the end of the course. Is it true? Or is it possible to reach at least a B2 level in German at the end of the course?
Thanks for answering!
I like Assimil and I have used Assimil for multiple languages. It is pleasant, effective, and moderately priced.
However, I don't believe the levels given in the advertising. In my opinion, A2 or B1 is possible with Assimil, but lots of practice with other material (magazines, books, radio, movies) is needed to get to B2.
I also had a book of Assimil and without doubt it was one of the best I have had until now. It was a book plenty of real situations and funny dialogues that were translated in my mother tongue as well. It helped me much to improve my skills and the best thing was that it was easy to read. Grammar books can be very boring and some of them are hateful.
However, only one book can't make this miracle real. The C level is a teacher level. There are persons who have been learning German for many years and they haven't passed the C exam yet. I am refering to people who speak fluently and know the grammar quite well. Anyway I wish you good luck and go on with your goals!
