"Malin Kundang", My Favorite Folktale In my country there are many folktales from different culture. One of my favorite folktales is "Malin Kundang" from West Sumatra. It is tell about the young man who rebel his mother when he was became rich. Formerly, they derived from a poor family in their village. Looking the stuck condition in his family, he began to think to go to some place to get money. with his mother's approval, he left his village and went to the city. After many years, he was came back to his village. He was became rich and had a beautiful wife. Knowing that her son was back, she went to saw him. She was very surprised when knowing that her son didn’t confess her as his mother. He felt shy having old and poor mother. Felt dejected, so she curse Malin become a stone. However, she felt guilty and very sad because she loses her son. From this story we can learn that whatever our mother’s condition, we must always devote and respect to her. She is the woman who was born and takes us care with all her love.

Looking the stuck condition in his family, he began to think to go to some place to get money. He felt he needed to leave to seek a better life.  With his mother's blessing approval, he left his village and went to the city. After many years, he was came back to his village. He was became returned rich and had with a beautiful wife. Knowing that her son was back, she went to saw see him. She was very surprised when knowing that her son did not want to recognize her didn’t confess her as his mother. He felt shy having old and poor was ashamed to his this old and poor woman for a mother. Felt dejected, so she The mother was angry and hurt enough to curse her ungrateful son.  Malin become was turned a stone. However, she felt guilty after the fact, she regretted and became very sad because as it was a terrible thing to do 1.she loses her son. 1

From this story we can learn that 2 No matter what whatever our mother’s condition, we must always devote and respect our mothers to her. She is the woman who was born and takes us care with all her love. She brought us life into this world. She loves us unconditionally.

1.  Regardless whether her son was turned to stone or not, she had already lost him!

2.  The way you say it sounds like, we have to love our mothers because she can turn us into stones!

Looking the sticky condition in his family, he began to think to go to some place to earn money. With his mother's approval, he left his village and went to the city. After many years, he was came back to his village. He had become rich and had a beautiful wife. Knowing that her son was back, she went to see him. She was very surprised when knowing that her son didn’t  recognize her and consider her as his mother. He felt shyness for having an old and poor mother. Felt dejected,  she cursed Malin to become a stone. However, she felt guilty and very sad because she lost her son forever. From this story, we can learn that whatever our mother’s condition is, we must always devote to her and respect.. She is the woman who gives birth; dedicates her life for our betterment and takes us care with all of her love and affection.
