This is my first trying to translate classical Chinese. The last two weeks in class we studied 6 Classical Chinese passages. At the end of last week, the teacher gave us an unseen classical Chinese passage and told us to try and translate it. The following is my translation. Please tell me if my translation is correct？ Is my translation good? (Please note, the meaning of unseen is something someone has not seen before, not something no one has seen before, for example an unseen exam.)

昔者，有餽魚於鄭相者，鄭相不受。或[或=有人]謂鄭相曰：「子嗜魚，何故不受？」對曰：「吾以嗜魚，故不受魚。受魚失祿，無以食魚；不受得祿[這個祿要譯出轉義，表官職前途]，終身食魚。」
There was once a man who gave the prime minister of Zheng some fish, but, the prime minister would not accept it. It was said to Someone asked the Prime minister;: "you are fond of eating fish, what reason do you have to not accept it?" He said；: “Being fond of eating fish is my reason to not accept it. If I accept the fish I will lose my salary, then there is no way for me to eat fish. If I don't accept it I will get my salary[better: If I don't accept it I'll be incorruptible and hold my office], then till the end of my days I can still eat fish.

"謂A" is the same so the "曰" can be omitted) said to the Prime minister;:"you are fond of fish, what reason do you have to not accept it?" He said;replied:("對" exactly means reply")“Being fond of fish is my reason to not accept it. If I accept the fish I will lose my salary, then there is no way for me to eat fish. If I don't accept it I will get my salary, then till the end of my days I can eat fish.
