一人之下,万人之上。 Any similiar idiom in English? Is there any idiom to describe "一人之下,万人之上" in English? 一人之下,万人之上:original meaning is a person has great power in ancient China, who was only subumitted to the emperor while overtop millions of people. Thanks for your help in advance.

There's an idiom in English that goes "second to none". I guess you can take that and tweak it a bit and say "only second to one person/the emperor", which by definition conveys the idea of being above thousands of other people.
