In English, man and woman are nouns used to refer to a subject of humankind. Male and female can have the exact same use but more widely as they also can be used to refer to animals. Moreover, male and female can be used as adjectives to specify the sex of a subject. Examples: She is a tall woman. (noun) The more colorful duck is the male. (noun) This female spider is bigger. (adjective) I have only five male students in my class this year. (adjective) In French the difference would be easier to do as "mâle" (male in French) and "femelle" (female in French) cannot be used for humans.

Three big differences are here: 1) Man and woman are male and female who also belong to the human species, that in remote times evolved from a male and female of some ape species. 2) only man and woman are capable of using a cell phone 3) only man occasionally prefers drinking beer and watching TV to the company of his female companion. Maybe a fourth is also worth to be accounted for: 4) only man occasionally firmly believes in peaceful supernatural beings in the name of which titanic wars are perpetrated leading to apocalyptical death and also destruction of temples dedicated to those above cited beings. other males sometimes have soon-to-be-settled arguments related to the fair sharing of fruits or the right to mate with a particular female A not so minor difference: a) a not-so-small percentage of men and women fight every day against their habit of eating food in EXCESSIVE quantities, and a different, but big percentage of men and women fight every hour against severe SHORTAGE of food supply; maybe they could join their efforts with probable interesting results.
