I agree with the other answerer... we need the context. Without it, I'd have a guess it is referring to someone's character of behaviour. If you behave like you've got a broom up your arse/ass (British/American) you are probably rather pompous/inflexible/intolerant/self-important in character. I've met the expression in novels etc. "He behaved as if he had a broom up his arse.... really pompous. I hate people like that!" (And I assume you know that ass is the word for donkey, and the Americans use it for backside/bottom/rectum, whilst the British keep ass for donkey, and use arse for backside) Hope this helps. But please give the context as it could mean 'a cleaning implement inserted into the bottom of your donkey'... BUT I DON'T THINK IT DOES!

I think we need some context! Maybe it means someone needs to do their job more quickly. Or perhaps it describes a sexual act.

i think it is a reference to the stiff way in which someone holds themselves in relation to being very formal. i.e. a very straight back. i.e. the broom handle is keeping them in that position
There is another common joke when you have been given too much work.
Stick a broom up my ass and i will sweep the floor on the way out. . i.e. i am doing everything around here :)

"A broom up your ass" - what does it mean? (A "dose" is a pill, or a spoonful of medicine. Pay close attention to simple things like question forms.)

Thanks your guidance, I dont know exactly what was the context, but I can say a man spoke with a woman .
