What are the differences between "blade" and "sword"? Could I say sword is a straight version of blade? P.S. Yea, both of them can be used to cut or kill something but in different ways.

No. Quite simply, a 'blade' is just the flat metal section any sharp weapon or tool. Most of these have a blade, which cuts or stabs, and a handle of some sort by which the object is held. A knife, a scalpel, a dagger, a saw, a pair of scissors - all of these have blades.

Suki said it best. I would add that a sword, like all the objects she listed, also has a blade.
