Nadya Miroslavova
How can I translate my name in Chinese? I am curious if I can translate my name in Chinese. In fact in Bulgarian, almost all the names have specific meanings so my name - Nadezhda (first) Miroslavova (second)Vucheva (sirname) actually means Hope + Peace(and)Glory + Wolf-something :D that I can`t explain. So can I make up my Chinese name by translating the word "hope" in Chinese + one of my other names.. or it would sound strange? I`ll be glad if someone native could answer my question and tell me how my name should be translated or designed so it will sound ok and it will cary the meaning as well.

Greetings! In China, we often translate foreigners' names according to the pronunciation (except Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese). So your name, Nadezhda Miroslavova Vucheva, if I translate it, I suggest "娜杰日达·米洛斯拉沃娃·伍契娃", the Chinese pinyin is “na jie ri da· mi luo si la wo wa· wu qi wa”. This translation doesn't includes your name's meaning in your mother language. If you want to make up a new Chinese name with special meaning, it is another thing.

In China, if your name is translated into Chinese, that is, according to the pronunciation of the English language, it is called娜黛达·米若丝娜娃·薇琪娃

It's unusual to paraphrased foreigner's name in china, because the form of chinese name and foreinger's name are different.names are signs, you can confirm who are they by their name's pronunciation without needing clarify the name's meaning.meanwhile , we try to make the translated pronunciation sound comfortable and give them sexual characteristics. my suggestion: 娜黛达·米若丝拉沃娃·乌彻瓦 (transliteration) 吴希宁 (free translation)
