Question about 'Huncho' This is a word from a song 'Strip That Down ft. Quavo' by Liam Payne. I looked it up in some dictionaries, but I have no idea what it means. Is there someone who knows its meaning? ************************************** I thank you in advance for your help.

The urban dictionary, which I totally advocate avoiding whenever possible, as unreliable and generally degenerate, the domain of rappers and people who cannot speak simple English, promotoing many of the worst ideas in society, says about "Huncho" To have Huncho Status is to rule the streets. Get on the wrong side of a person with Huncho status and you may wind up dead. .

I must admit, I had never heard of this word before I saw this, so I did a search on Google and found the following: Honcho is an informal word that was coined in the United States in the 1940s to mean "officer in charge," becoming especially popular with U.S. soldiers during the Korean War. Honcho comes from a Japanese word for "group leader," hancho, from han, "corps or squad," and cho, "head or chief."

Thanks for the detailed explanation! 'Head honcho' may be related to 'huncho.' I've learned a lot from your comment. I appreciate you helping me :)

"Head honcho" used to be a common expression for boss, top boss, or similar. My guess is that these two are related. "Huncho" prbably just an alternative spelling of a foreign word (Spanish?) then repurposed for street-speak in an attempt to create a cliche-like scenario.
