It is the word class in English that expresses the characteristic of something or someone.
It describes something or someone by giving a representation of it in the form of a word usually presenting shape, size, time ,quality,quantity etc.
It is an answer of how is something/someone.
Examples:
-The house is big. (How is the house?)
The cat is small .( How is the cat?)
'big' and 'small' describe size.
-The boy is skinny . (describes shape).
How is the boy? He is skinny.
-The chinese temples are ancient. ( indicates time)
-The water is cold (touch).

The adjective is located either:
- after the verb (usually verb to be) as in previous examples.
The house is big.
The boy is skinny.
- or before the described noun.

Adjectives are represented as antonymous ( word with opposite meanings).
