I hope he wins. Future I wish I knew. Present. I wish I had bought it. Past. Think of these three statements as future, present, and past of the same mood and you have go it!

wish和hope都能接that引导的从句,但wish后的从句的谓语动词要用虚拟语气(动词用过去时,或过去完成时),hope则用所需要的时态。 wish后面跟的表示不太可能发生的事情,hope的可能性大一些 I hope that he will win the game. 我希望他会赢得这场比赛。 I wish that I knew the answer. 我希望我知道这个答案。 I wish I had bought it yesterday. 我希望昨天买了它。 wish, hope都可作名词,可数或不可数均可,wish表示"愿望""心愿""祝愿",hope表示"希望"。

They are similar. You can use "Wish" for present and past tense, and "hope" for future tense. Example: Future: I HOPE my mom doesn't kill me when she finds out I broke her car. Past: I WISH I hadn't broke my mom's car. Present: I wish I was superman. Also, hopes, wishes, and dreams are interchangeable. Example: I wish to be a doctor one day. I hope that one day I can be a doctor. It is my dream to be a doctor one day.

Wish is most commonly used in hypothetical (or imagined) situations: I wish that I had a dog. Sometimes wish is used in greeting and expressions of goodwill: We wish you a "Merry Christmas." They wished him "Happy Birthday." Hope can also be used in expressions of goodwill, but the grammar is slightly different: I hope (that) you have a Merry Christmas. ( In future) I hope (that) you had a nice Birthday. ( In past) Hope can be used to specify a desired outcome. "I hope you can come to the party on Saturday". Wish and hope are also used in certain types of requests and pleasantries. In such situations, wish carries a more definite and formal tone. " I wish to see a doctor". " I wish to see you again".

Hello Libby, If you hope for something, you want it to be true or to happen, and you usually believe that it is possible or likely. "He hopes to get this job within 2 weeks." Here he is anticipating to get it and waiting for it to come true.He did what it takes and expects the good results. On the other hand If you wish something were true, you would like it to be true, even though you know that it is impossible or unlikely. " He wishes,he could do that..." Here it is a desire to do and achieve that, yet it is quite impossible or unlikely to happen.
