I earned my teaching certificate in 2014 and started my online tutoring business in 2015 while I was travelling. I now have over 5 years of teaching experience with both English and Irish. After a short tutoring break, I'm back!
In my free time, I enjoy creating art, going on adventures with my children, and learning about the local history.我的教學經歷
I earned my teaching certificate in 2013 / 2014 and began teaching in 2014. I taught overseas in China, both in a classroom and one-on-one face-to-face lessons, and I now teach English and Irish online to students of all ages and levels, including children.
I create a relaxed learning environment with an emphasis on conversation and use of the target language. I also specialize in communications for Business English, an area I worked in for a number of years.我的課程內容與教學風格
I like to get people talking from the get-go, even if they are beginners, as this helps tremendously with language absorption. In my classes, we can talk about the topics that interest you and focus on your particular goals, all while getting good basics in a language. I can provide a variety of after-class exercises, including vocabulary and grammar points, and audio revision.

ESL Teacher (Oral English)I taught 40-50 children in a classroom environment, helping them with pronunciation and understanding of English words. We learnt songs, played games, did group activities (such as pair work) and board work.

ESL TeacherI taught children <5 years old three times a week, giving them lessons suitable for their age and ability. Classes included songs, videos and art to keep things fresh and interesting.

Language Coach & TutorDuring my time as a language coach and tutor, I helped learners of all ages and levels to improve their communication and language learning abilities. My main areas of linguistic focus were Irish and English, and I helped many learners to practice and improve to a fluent, or near-fluent, level during this time.
I have also done voluntary presentations and classes, such as the Irish class I taught in Poland 2015 for "Seachtain na Gaeilge".

Communications CoachAt LingoLive, I helped learners to improve their communication approach and methods in a business and/or team-leading environment. We worked together on various projects, including giving necessary feedback, supporting a team, making decisions, and working towards promotions.

English TeacherI taught children, aged 4-16, English online, using songs, games, and pictures to make sure we had fun while learning English!
2015 - 2023
TranslatorTranslated from Irish-English / English-Irish in a variety of setting, including government offices, tribunals, and online. During this time I also completed several remote projects, including a book, and other documents.

Shona was warm, friendly, and encouraging. I enjoyed my Irish lesson and feel confident that I can learn the language with her help. It was my first lesson and she set me at ease and kept me interested for the whole lesson and motivated me to practice before the next lesson.

I really, really enjoy my conversations as Gaeilge with Shona. She is very patient and kind when I am struggling to put a sentence together. I feel very comfortable with her. She is also smart and interesting and funny. And we stick to Irish the whole class. I highly recommend her.

What can I say? The most kind hearted and dedicated teacher I know. Shona is always prepared for class, punctual, and ready to adjust the lessons whenever I was falling behind, always encouraging. I love learning to speak Irish from Shona.

Shona was very friendly and easy to talk to. She provided gentle corrections to my Irish and encouraged me to talk as much as possible. I enjoyed the conversation and was able to use a lot of vocabulary and different grammatical structures. Go raibh maith agat, a Shona!
