Cherry

Fun lesson. Cherry knows how to feel my linguistics needs and cater for them regardless of the contents of the book. This makes for very intellectually stimulating exchanges which clearly boost my motivation.

Used an easily available Burmese instructional manual, which was helpful. Good judgement about when to introduce new concepts to a beginner. Speaks English well. Very good first session.

Today, we focused mainly on reading comprehension, which is exactly what I need most. I could tell Cherry put a lot of thought into slowing the pace of our lessons down, and incorporating reading practice into lessons, in order to ensure my reading stays up to par with other skills (speaking, listening, etc.). Great lesson!

I always like to bring my own ideas for my lessons but this time I didn't have an idea. Cherry reminded me that that was fine because we can just speak and learn nee vocabulary. One of my favorite things is just to pause and listen to Cherry summarize what we've been talking to. I always record this to listen to later. We've started doing like a "closing summary" that wraps up everything from the whole conversation. I find it so useful! I think for future lessons I want to ask for the closing summary to be even LONGER- so that it is just 10 minutes of comprehensible input using and re-using the vocabulary from the day and modeling how I can talk about my life situations. Thank you Cherry as always for being so patient, flexible, and responsive!

Cherry is so receptive and responsive to my many learning needs, whims, and initiatives! She always gets what I'm asking and why, and just goes with it. Learning is always so relaxing and fun!!
