Aya

Aya-sensei, the legend! I started out with Aya-sensei for her Japanese explanations and patience through basic conversations and essays I would do for homework. Over time, I can see the progress and impact Aya-sensei has on my Japanese, as well as my confidence that grew alongside with it. Aya-sensei gives me the flexibility and creativity to choose my own learning. Whenever I request to try out a new exercise (perhaps some grammar practice, or just today, starting out a mini-review of vocab per lesson), Aya-sensei always does her best to give out resources and her help! It's this type of support and consistency that makes my Japanese journey so much more enjoyable. Thank you so much Aya-sensei!

Aya is a great teacher. We start with free conversation that she is wonderful at facilitating. Whether I have a high-energy level or a low energy level, she is great at getting a conversation going. After this, we review an essay that I've written ahead of time. By having me write small essays before each class on different topics (that I get to pick) I get to work on different parts of my Japanese skills that often go neglected. In class I read what I've written out loud. Then we correct and refine what I've written. This often leads to really great opportunities to learn grammar and vocabulary, and to learn more natural phrasing. Then, after it's been refined, Aya will read it once through, and then have me shadow her. It's improved so many parts of my Japanese (production, pronunciation, reading/writing). She really is a fantastic instructor, and give me the perfect structure that I need, while being a lot of fun to talk with.

With Aya we have had 6 lessons so far, and she is always prepared with specific use cases that suit my needs(professional environment Japanese), which I really appreciate, and so far I have learned a lot. I definitely recommend!
