Hi, my name is Stephen. I am an Australian living in Japan who is passionate about communication. I am a qualified optometrist in Australia and currently work part time in a Japanese restaurant. I have interests in science, cycling and music. I am returning to English teaching after a gap of over 20 years, and am looking forward to drawing on my varied educational and professional experiences in order to offer fun, challenging and rewarding English lessons on the italki platform.

我的教學經歷

As a young adult, I taught English in a private English school in Japan. I taught individual and group lessons in a face-to-face format. I am new to online teaching, but am excited about the opportunities it provides for teachers and students from all over the world to connect at times and places that are convenient for them. I adapt my teaching style and lesson content to the needs of each student, but particularly welcome students with an interest in medical English.

我的課程內容與教學風格

My lessons are student focused, and conversation based. I welcome topics ranging from everyday activities to sports, music, science and healthcare. I focus on helping learners develop spoken English that sounds natural. I can give guidance on pronunciation, intonation, vocabulary and grammar. I am also happy to help with written English and reading comprehension, and can provide homework tasks to interested students.
