I am a Filipino living in Singapore. Even though I've been away from the Philippines, I’ve worked to maintain my cultural identity, especially with my family and language. Initially, I focused on teaching my daughter English, fearing confusion with Filipino. However, as she grew, I realized the importance of her learning our language to connect with our heritage. At age four, I began teaching her, drawing on my past tutoring experience. I also taught Filipino as a side hustle to colleagues, expanding my student base through referrals. These experiences deepened my appreciation for language as a tool for preserving culture and fostering identity, a tradition I am committed to passing on我的教學經歷
As a teacher, I take pride in my Filipino heritage, which deeply influences my engaging and approachable teaching style. I aim to create a relaxed and friendly environment where students feel comfortable and supported in achieving their learning goals. I am also patient and understanding, tailoring my approach to accommodate each child's unique learning ability and pace. My lessons are well-prepared, guided by a structured lesson plan that ensures an organized and effective approach to learning. I start with commonly used phrases and sentences to build practical communication skills before transitioning to grammar and vocabulary for a deeper understanding. To keep lessons engaging and prevent learning fatigue, I integrate music and short videos, which I find highly effective for reinforcing meaning and improving pronunciation. My teaching style balances structure and creativity, fostering a supportive and enjoyable environment where students stay motivated and confidently achieve their learning goals.我的教材
