You don't know me yet, but my name is Flor — your new Spanish fairy godmother. 😊 I'm a native speaker from Peru with a clear, neutral accent. I help beginners build a strong foundation and guide intermediate learners past plateaus to reach real conversational fluency.
My passion for teaching began when I helped my American daughter-in-law learn Spanish, and grew through volunteering at a language school in Colorado as a conversation partner and Peruvian culture advocate.
With 9,400+ lessons on italki and a Journalism degree with extensive grammar and literature studies, I use an immersive, structured approach for all levels. I'm fully committed to helping you speak Spanish with confidence!
I believe in an immersive language learning approach, which makes me the perfect person to learn Spanish with. Effectively, my teaching method is best for those who can communicate at a basic Spanish level or above.
My qualifications include extensive grammar and literature classes at San Martin de Porres University here in Lima that were taken as I pursued a Journalism degree. I have owned a business, and worked in the financial sector. I have taught over 7,000 lessons in italki as a teacher. I’m ready to help you with a structured and professional lesson plan. Curso Superior Universitario de Profesores de Español para Extranjeros ELE - Universidad Rey Juan Carlos y INESEM – Instituto Europeo de Estudios Empresariales - 2017With the "Curso de Profesor de Español para Extranjeros (ELE)", I gained the practical and theoretical knowledge to be able to teach Spanish on a professional level. The course taught me to design, apply, and validate different teaching strategies for the language and how to accommodate various learning styles. The course provided me with lesson planning tools and an evaluation system to measure the progress of my students.

Second lesson with Flor and I love that she challenges and pushes you while also offering encouragement! She makes things super fun which makes the hour go by super quickly. I thought chapter two of the book would take the entire hour but (I think) I caught on fairly quickly thanks to Flor. The second half of the lesson we spent reading and answering questions about short stories that she wrote, and I was surprised when she said we just knocked out NINE stories! For once in my life I am excited about homework :)

It is always a pleasure to be working with Flor. Anybody who hasn't tried out working with her is missing out on a great opportunity to learn Spanish. She knows a lot about the language, speaks very clearly and can teach any level. I've been taking classes with her for a long time now and my Spanish has improved a lot. She is a great teacher!

I know next to no Spanish but Flor had me confidently (ish) speaking Spanish during our first lesson together today! She gently corrected my mistakes and offered lots of compliments and praises throughout. Flor was very kind and remembered things I had mentioned in our messages before meeting, so it felt like I was talking to an old friend!
