Hi! I'm Kathryn, an American living in Spain. I've been teaching since 2012 and love learning new strategies and styles, and finding new activities and resources.

I've been teaching English and Spanish since 2012 and coaching language teachers since 2015. I originally studied to teach Spanish, and then studied a Masters in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. I have taught in the classroom and online, and have experience with big groups, small groups, and one-to-one classes. I have worked with children aged 5-18 and adults, and have experience teaching Business English, Cambridge exam preparation, and Trinity exam preparation.

Language learning should be fun and accessible! My lessons focus on interaction with the language, using vocabulary and grammar in conversation. We'll sometimes stop to break down a grammar concept or review correct use, but you should practice as much as possible. I offer supportive feedback and error correction so you can continue to improve.
I use reading and storytelling (TPRS methodology) and focus on using the same structures in order to help you master new concepts. Classes will be thematic, and repeated classes will help you master these new grammar and vocabulary skills.我的教材

Provisional Teaching Certificate - New York State Education Department - 2012This preceeds the other teaching certificate. I have been certified since 2012, but my certificate became a full professional certificate in 2017 after five years of a provisional certificate.

2012 - 2015
English TeacherI taught English and English as a Second Language for students in first through eighth grades (aged 6-14). I worked with students to prepare for the state English Language Learners exam and acquire language skills.
2015 - 2018
Spanish TeacherI taught high school Spanish for students in grades 9-12 (aged 14-18) at multiple levels. We focused on comprehensible input to acquire language skills and ultimately traveled to Spain, which inspired me to move abroad and teach English.
2018 - 2021
English TeacherI taught English for students aged 12-18 and employ a variety of methods to ensure students acquire strong language skills.
2018 - 2024
Spanish Teacher and InterpreterI teach middle and high school Spanish for homebound students. I also interpret other content area classes as needed for Spanish-speaking students.

Spanish TeacherI teach Spanish for international students age 11-18.
