Hello, my name is Sumire. I was born and raised in Kanazawa and I'm now living in Canada.
I have many hobbies, such as traveling, cooking, and watching movies. Of course, I love music very much! My bathroom is also my Karaoke room!
Reading books is also one of my favorite pastimes! Lately, I’m interested in the relationship between education and the development of personality, so I started reading books about it. My knowledge of these education systems and their methods influences my teaching style and lessons.
I’m currently working as a certified Japanese language teacher. Recently, I've started working as an assistant language teacher at the University of Calgary. とても楽しいです！我的教學經歷
During my fourth year of college I obtained a certification to teach Japanese professionally and after graduating, I started working in a Japanese language school in Tokyo, where I taught classes of foreign students and did private lessons for about five years.
One of the reasons why I love teaching Japanese is that I can discover the intriguing and fascinating particularities of Japanese words and expressions together with interesting people from all over the world, while learning about their cultures and ways of thinking. I want to continue teaching in the future because I love how I and my students can motivate and encourage each other to keep learning and be curious while having fun.我的課程內容與教學風格

・If the lesson is cancelled with less than 24 hours notice, no refund is given.
・If the student doesn’t show for whatever reason, no refund is given.

・Lessons are mainly held in Japanese, or English by student's request.
・In the context of formal lessons, I will create a lesson plan according to your level and objectives and use teaching materials from textbooks or that I have made myself (see list of courses below).我的教材

I've studied with Sumire 先生 for more than a year, and I can confidently say that my Japanese has improved quite a bit. Thanks to Sumire 先生, I've been able to understand the different nuances of many similar Japanese expressions, always a good indicator of an effective teacher in my opinion. Additionally, the textbook that she recommended, Marugoto is more useful for daily communication when compared to Tobira.

Sumire-sensei is truly a wonderful teacher. She really sees what you need to study and find a good and fun way to do so. She helps you reach your goal. I have studied for Sumire-sensei for almost a year and during that time my Japanese has improved so much.

GREAT lesson. I feel like I learned so much about how to use different vocabulary words and grammar points. Sumire gives very memorable examples of how to use different points and she explains things very well in Japanese that I can understand. Thank you!!

Sumire-san was wonderful! She was constantly typing phrases during our chat and added a summary for that lesson! She was able to match her Japanese to an appropriate speed and level to make understanding really easy for me. 100% would recommend.

My first trial lesson was a lot to take in, but goodness was it wonderful! Just speaking in Japanese and getting familiar with what I'm listening to from almost 10 years worth of space between when I last studied the language was intense, made me super nervous, but it was so much fun! My brain feels so alive and it's wonderful! Sumire-sensei is very easy to understand, and her simple Japanese for me to understand what we are talking about is wonderful! I can't wait for future lessons and I'm so grateful to get back into learning a beautiful language! ありがとうございます！

Sumire sensei is an amazing teacher. My Japanese has developed enormously during my years with her. My communication skills and writing skills has really improved. Sumire sensei produces study materials just for you and your needs. She also writes a short summary of each lesson so you can check your mistakes. Every week I get interesting homework to write, and it coordinate well with the weeks topic and grammar. Sumire sensei is one of the best Japanese teachers I have ever met.
