Hi, I'm Lara. I am a South African living in Cape Town, South Africa. I love to travel. I love talking about travelling and destinations and cultures from all over the world. Let's chat about travelling together!
My main hobby is reading. I particularly love to read fantasy and historical fiction and use this time as an escape from the real world.
I love learning new languages, I speak English and Afrikaans fluently and I am learning to speak Portuguese, iSiXhosa and German. Being a language learner myself, helps me understand the difficulties of learning a language and I encourage learning in a fun and relaxed manner where you can build confidence in your English skills.我的教學經歷
I am a fun, engaging and patient English teacher with great methods and exciting content. I am also able to assist you with perfecting your pronunciation and intonation of the English language.
I am a well-organized professional with proven teaching and guidance skills and over 10 years of experience in the field.
I have worked as a primary school teacher, a special needs facilitator and a high school History and English teacher. The varying levels of my experience allow me to use the right methodology and approach to help you grow confidence while using English.

I like to use a variety of teaching styles to find out what works best for each learner, these include:
Visual - images, flashcards and graphs to spark conversation and improve vocabulary.
Audio - audio clips and short videos that enhance classroom topics.
Written - once writing, I encourage learners to write and practice as much as possible.
Movement - sometimes jumping, clapping and acting helps us learn quicker.
Games - I enjoy turning learning activities into games so that we can learn without even noticing it!

I looked closely at learning barriers, such as; Audio-processing disorder, Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia etc and how to overcome them in a classroom and learning environment.

Foundation Phase Mentor FacilitatorI have worked as a the Foundation Phase Mentor Facilitator at a local primary school, Pinelands North Primary School (PNPS) for over a year. My duties include teaching children between the ages of 6 and 10 to read and write, as well as maths skills. I work one-on-one with learners within the larger classroom setting of up to 32 learners. I like to use phonetics (Jolly Phonics) and other fun teaching techniques to encourage good English skills.
