Hello! My name is Kevin, I'm 56 and come from Manchester in the UK. I have been teaching English and German for twenty-four years, twenty-two of them in a language and vocational school in Germany. I now live in the beautiful city of Pretoria in South Africa. I enjoy hiking, reading, chess, films, music and astronomy. Of course, I also love learning languages. I did French and Russian at university and I also speak Italian and Spanish. I also enjoy studying dead languages. Alongside Latin and Greek, I recently started learning Old English and if anyone's interested, I'd love to teach that too.我的教學經歷
I have a CELTA qualification in teaching English to adults. I have an MA degree in French and Russian from the University of Oxford and another MA in Translation studies from the University of Portsmouth. I also have a lot of experience preparing students for the Cambridge English exams at different levels. I think that learning a language should be fun. I adapt my lesson to your needs and requests and we can discuss that in your trial lesson. **Please note that I do not teach children or those in their early teens. I think lessons should be student-centred. That means that it's important that the student talks as much as possible and doesn't just listen to the teacher. If you would like to do general conversation lessons, you can talk about anything you like. You can expect carefully prepared and well-structured lessons. I really enjoy preparing students for English exams (Cambridge, IELTS, TOEIC and TOEFL) and teaching business English. I particularly like learning about the different countries and cultures that my students come from.我的教材

Großes Deutsches Sprachdiplom - Goethe Institute - 2021This was a public exam that typically involves around two years of study to demonstrate near-native speaker competence in German (C2 on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).

碩士 - Modern LanguagesI studied French and Russian at the University of Oxford from 1986-1990. I was awarded a BA degree in 1990 and an MA in 2008. I also completed a distance-learning MA degree in Translation Studies at the University of Portsmouth in 2017 (certificate available on request).

2021 - 2024
Online English teacherI have been teaching English to private students online since January 2021. This has been a useful experience for teaching on italki in that I have learnt to use various online tools to teach students, such as an online whiteboard and Google Docs for recording error corrections.
2001 - 2022
English teacherFrom September 2001 to August 2022 I worked for Inlingua Augsburg in Germany. From September 2005, I took on a new role within Inlingua Augsburg training young people as multilingual assistants.
